Camp Store

CHANGES TO THE CAMP STORE

One of our favorite projects in the 2017 has to be the Camp Store facelift. Our goal has been to embrace our “mining town” and “rustic” roots while still bringing some modern and clean looks to our property and the camp store reflects that. New storage, new lighting and new display areas for new merchandize made the camp store a fun place to visit and work this summer.

Hillside Chalet (Staff and Retreat House)

UPDATES AND REPAIRS TO STAFF HOUSING

It may not seem all that impressive from this photo but we’ve been hard at work all year updating our staff house on the hill – where our maintenance person has lived the last couple years. Recently its been fully furnished for use by pastors and missionaries as an out of the way retreat space. Affectionately called the “Hillside Chalet” by the staff it is actually one of the oldest residences on property.

A-frame

A-FRAME INSULATION AND NEW LIGHTNING

As part of our overall project to improve the a-frame thisyear we were able to add new insulation to the ceiling. It was a harrowing and back-breaking process that our staff and a few volunteers were able to complete before the start of camping season. Aside from it’s heating benefits it also brightens the room and brings us one step closer to having a professional chapel / multipurpose space.

FIREPLACE AND LIGHTING REMODEL

In this photo and the a-frame above you can see that we’ve significantly changed some of our lighting in camp. The whole lower camp has received a lighting upgrade to more energy efficient and brighter LED fixtures.

Additionally we made a big change to our dining room with the addition of an insert (to generate heat) and much needed paint and facelift

Bunkhouse

HILLSIDE BUNKHOUSE

The “Bunkhouse” is a small retreat and summer staff housing building in the Hillside Camp. It provides beds for 6 people and a seperate common room with seating and a food prep and cleaning countertop and sink. We started this project early in the year during Serve Camp and were able to complete it this fall. Our hope is to use this place for personal retreats during the Fall to Spring months now that it’s insulated and heated and as a summer staff housing during the summer.
