Core Values
- God-Dependent: In relationship… Abiding in Him, bearing fruit, for apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5) …we want to reflect our relationship with Jesus.
- Vision-Guided: In directive… Whatever is done in word or deed, it is to be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father (Colossians 3:17) …we believe that camp changes lives.
- Christ-Centered: In programming… Proclaiming Him, admonishing and teaching with all wisdom, to present every man and woman complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28) …we desire to have meetings that matter and to meet needs that matter most.
- Bible-Based: In decision-making… Seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33) …we understand the need to be grounded in Scripture.
- Sustainability-Dedicated: In partnership… Acting with integrity in all matters regarding the environment, finances, and treatment of employees and volunteers (1 Corinthians 10:31) …we aim for the glory of God in all that we do.
Statement of Faith
Pleasant Valley Christian Camp is a nondenominational ministry, operated and supported by Christian Churches throughout the greater Puget Sound region. Our statement of faith is a reflection of these churches’ core beliefs. Click here to learn more about the Christian Churches that support us.
- There is one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
- Jesus Christ is God’s Son, lived without sin, died on the cross for all of our sins, was raised from the dead, and is coming again. (Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 14:3)
- The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God and is authoritative for all matters of Christian faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
- All have sinned and deserve the punishment of eternal death. (Romans. 3:23, 6:23)
- Salvation from the penalty of death is made possible through the atoning death of Jesus. That is, He bears the penalty of our sins. (Romans 5:8-9)
- We cannot earn salvation. It is a gift of God offered to those who believe in Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We respond to God’s love by faith, repentance, and baptism. Baptism is immersion in water of a professed believer in Christ. (Acts 2:38, 16:31)
- The Christian believer is endowed with the Holy Spirit for guidance, comfort, and assistance in prayer. (Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:26)
- The Church is a fellowship of Christian believers, the body of Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
- We value life at all stages from conception to eternity. (Psalm 139:13; John 10:10; Revelation 14:13)
- God created us male and female and instituted marriage at creation. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman into a lifelong relationship by making a public covenant and vow before God. (Genesis 2:20-24; Mark 10:6-9)
Sexuality and Gender Identity Policies
You are welcome at Pleasant Valley Christian Camp! As commanded by the Bible, we are committed to reflecting the heart of Christ by loving ALL and treating ALL with humility, dignity and respect. We recognize that we are ALL sinners, ALL loved unconditionally by God, and ALL seen as equals in His eyes. We welcome ALL who desire to learn more about following Jesus and growing in Him to participate in our camps and retreats. Our desire is for Pleasant Valley Christian Camp to be a safe, inviting place that is free of hate, bullying, or harassment—a place where ALL have the opportunity to experience the love of God, salvation through Jesus, and the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit. (Proverbs 10:12; Micah 6:8; Mark 12:31; John 13:34-35; Romans 3:22-24; 5:8; Galatians 5:14-15; 5:22-23; James 2:8-9; 1 John 2:9-11, 4:19-21)
The Bible also tells us that God made each of us specifically male or female. He created our sexuality to be shared exclusively within marriage between a husband and wife. Sexual conduct, expression, and orientations outside of marriage and our biological genders are contrary to the Bible and to the values of Pleasant Valley Christian Camp. (Genesis 1:27; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:9-20; 7:2; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5; Hebrews 13:4)
To ensure camper safety and well-being and to avoid confusion and conflict, all Pleasant Valley Christian Camp staff and participants in our camps and retreats agree to:
- Conduct, speech, and dress that do not contradict our values or detract from our programs
- Lodging with the same biological gender
- Use of the same biological gender’s restrooms, showers, changing areas, etc.
We understand that these policies may not be a suitable fit for all campers. If needed, we can recommend other camps in this region that may be able to accommodate different needs.
